Listening to Fela Kuti "Water No Get Enemy"
This is a classic Fela tune, one that can have you dancing and thinking at the same time. Fela Kuti has influenced me enough that I named my daughter after him. His idea of music as a weapon is a tenant that I have used personally. There was even one occasion that music stopped somebody from committing an act of violence against me and friends of mine. I used my musical skill to change this person's mind about being violent and angry towards us. At the time it came naturally, but looking back at it - it was quite extraordinary. Singing to this man seemed to calm the beast in him, and stopped him from escalating his anger into physical violence. He shook our hands and walked away. And 'Water No Get Enemy'...who is going to fight water? We need it to survive, it is a friend to all. Jam on it...
